I was born and raised in New Jersey. Except for four years at Boston College the Garden State has been my home. An introverted child, I dove into the deep end of just about anything Geek. My mother Gloria gave me the gift of words when a 3rd grade teacher informed her that I couldn’t read. At five feet tall, Mom was sassy and feisty; my teacher didn’t know what hit her. The next few years included long sessions with flashcards, remedial reading class and excursions to the local library. My weakness became my strength and I fell in love with literature.
I was given the gift of Science fiction when my brother handed me a book he had read in a college sociology class. The size and content of Frank Herbert’s Dune should have been daunting to an 11 year old. Something clicked when I opened the tome and I absorbed the details of his world. Its a book a still visit from time to time.
Fantasy entered my life when I picked the Sword of Shannara up in a long-closed local bookstore. Thank you Terry Brooks for starting me on a decades journey into the the Four Lands and beyond. (Side note: His book Sometimes the Magic Works is a must read for any aspiring author or Brooks fan.). Don’t even get me started about the impact of Star Wars on a young introvert. All of the creators and their stories gave me a permanent passport into the realm of imagination. (OK, that sounded a bit corny, but its true!)
I continue to read more than I should (an apology to Dawn my wife of 28 years is necessary here – she had no idea she was marrying a geek who could escape into a book at a moments notice) and write in hope of getting published. Having three great children has allowed me to continue to explore all things geek. I have managed to turn two of my three children to the dark side. They have embraced the world of science fiction and fantasy. One loves creating costumes for Comic Con and the other I’ve had the pleasure of playing Dungeons and Dragons with. (Side note: My latest character is named Angus Glenmorangie and he was named after one of my favorite single malt scotches). My oldest daughter is serious and rooted in reality, so I have to keep up on politics, science and other grown-up topics to keep up with her.
On this site, I’ll discuss anything MCU as well as the latest Star Wars movie. Sometimes I’ll muse on books I’m reading or shows I’m watching. You may see posts on my collection of Light Sabers, Pop Vinyls or anything else I pick up at Comic Con or NYC Comic book shops.
I’ll also share information on my novel as it progresses. (Any agents out there feel free to reach out – I promise it is going to be great!).
